Back in, I believe, 2010, I emailed Adrian with the idea of putting Dave Newell forward for an award for his services to child safety on the railway. A while later, Lesley Knight got in contact to arrange a meeting with Adrian and the meeting finally came around. Thinking that Adrian may have more idea about this than I had, I was expecting him to say great idea and we’ll get it sorted. Not at all. The meeting went something like this... Nice to see you. Great idea. Go an get on with it. 😱 Thanks for dropping me in at the deep end Adrian but also, thank you for dropping me in at the deep end. Adrian was a giant legend of a man, a great boss and it was an honour, a pleasure and a privilege to have worked for him.
