I was fortunate to work with Adrian in the development of the Protocols for the Bicester Vision Strategic Partnership. Once a reasonable working draft had been created, many of the other eventual founder members took their copies off to their legal teams for assessment.

Not Adrian, he simply took his copy across the desk, signed it slid it back to me, and said words to the effect that if we ever had to use it we would all have failed in our goals. I have never forgotten this act of faith around my work and consider myself very fortunate to have been able to speak with him on all things Bicester, not only railway-related ones.

I will miss him and the more recent lunches that we had been having as we shared our respective poor health journeys and discussed a wide selection of topics.
